Sharon Lopez Mooney
Poet & Interfaith Chaplain

There is something about his hands
Hands ready, pecan skin,
hickory toned knuckles
smooth but for their slight, dry thirst
expressing agility
their movement Bach and
James Brown, ease and pulse
fingers reveal feelings
his lips fear to shape, yet
yearn to be heard
palms fawn color,
vulnerable, where he
nakedly savors the world
heart sheltered,
hands open, curious, elegant
long thin fingers hungry to devour more
